Open Question: Domestic Violence NOT GUILTY?

3 September 2008, 10:16 am

My landlord wanted me out of the house because I was late on my rent so he decided to call the cops in Henderson, NV and lie to them and say that I "scratched his face" instead of evicting me. Even the cops on scene knew something was off. But as they told me, "if there is a complaint against someone else for domestic violence, we have to take someone to jail if there is physical evidence." And as I told them, "the bastard probably scratched his face himself prior to your arrival and said I did it!!!!!" As God as my witness, I did not do any such thing. I have never been in a fight in my life! I plead "no contest" after spending two days in jail because I knew that if I plead "not guilty" that I would be remanded back to jail for at least 30 days - thereby losing my job. I had NO MONEY nor did I have anyone to bail me out, which is why, like I said, I pleaded no contest. I am a very peaceful person, would not hurt a fly, in fact, I work at an animal hospital!!!! I am going to have to take classes and pay a small fine but in the end, this is going to cost me over $1,000. I was wondering, are there and restrictions, other than OWNING A FIREARM, that come after being convicted of DV (1st offense of course)? Will I be able to get this expunged off my record after 3 years? And, what suggestions do you have, if any to help my case? I know some of you will respond by stating, "ask an attorney!" But I don't want to just yet. SO PLEASE, ANSWER ONLY IF YOU HAVE SOME GOOD, HONEST FEEDBACK!!!!!! THANKS! I am telling the whole truth. People out here in Las Vegas, as I find, are STRANGE!! Not everyone, of course, but this guy was a real piece of work!... read more
