Open Question: How hard is it to become a Police Officer?

I'd like to apply for a job as a Police Officer (Specifically in Henderson or Las Vegas, NV) and I'd like to know how hard it is to actually get the job and what you can do to increase your chances, and what you should do before applying, and when you're being interviewed. It's always been my dream to be a Police Officer, and I've spent a lot of time looking over the Police Officer Exam books and what it is I need to know, and I'm pretty confident if given the chance I know I could pass the exam and Police Academy. But I have heard that it's pretty hard to become a cop in Henderson and Las Vegas. Anyone know anything about that?
